Isofloc insulation of the roof

As explained elsewhere, the house is further insulated to obtain a low-energy degree. After the outside wall cavities were filled with poly-urethane by the company Isotrie, a next step was taken to improve the insulation of the roof. Major parts of the roof were filled with Isofloc which is a recycled cellulose from old, non-read, newspapers. The job was carried out by Stef Demedts from the company "Houtcreaties" (www.houtcreaties.be). Stef and his companion Guy injected more than 90 bags of Isofloc in well-choosen empty spaces of the attic and the roof to prevent heat-loss and wind penetration. The effect of this operation will be difficult to measure, as it was implied at the same time as the PUR injection.
Anyway, a reduction of 30-40% in heat costs is expected from the combined action.
